PETE DUNNE is the author of nine books, including Pete Dunne on Bird Watching, Hawks in Flight, and The Wind Masters. He is the vice president of the New Jersey Audubon Society and the director of its Cape May Bird Observatory and has written columns and articles for virtually every birding magazine as well as the New York Times.

Pete Dunne is a birder/writer, founder of the World Series of Birding, Director of Natural History Information for the New Jersey Audubon Society, and Director of the Cape May Bird Observatory. An experienced tour leader, he is well-known for his columns and contributions to publications such as American Birds, Birding, Living Bird, Wildlife Conservation, and WildBird. He is also the author of numerous books, including Hawk-watch, A Guide for Beginners; Hawks in Flight: A Guide to Identification of Migrant Raptors (co-authored with Clay Sutton); The Feather Quest; Before the Echo: Essays on Nature; Tales of a Low-Rent Birder; More Tales of a Low-Rent Birder; The Wind Masters: Lives of North American Birds of Prey; Pete Dunne's Essential Field Guide Companion; and The Art of Pishing.

Pete is Director of the Cape May Bird Observatory and Vice President for Natural History Information.  Called by the Wall Street Journal "The Bard of Birding" he is author of twelve books (including PETE DUNNE'S FIELD GUIDE COMPANION and PETE DUNNE ON BIRDING) and has written columns and articles for every major birding and natural history publication.  Since 1976 when he served as the first hawk counter in Cape May, Pete has brought thousands of people to greater awareness and understanding of the natural world.  He has led tours to Antarctica, Australia, the Bearing Sea, Kenya, Ecuador, and Panama.  He has specialized in teaching birding workshops since 1979.  He and his wife Linda live in Mauricetown, New Jersey.
